How selling Avon works – Getting started

There are three options to start selling Avon. 

  1. Become an Avon Representative for free. With free sign up you will receive your own online Avon eStore to share with your customers as well as all the training you need to succeed. 
  2. Contribute $5 to the American Cancer Society and receive the same as you would with a free sign up.
  3. Purchase an Avon Business Starter Kit for only $30 valued at $107 with full-size products, Avon catalogs, what’s new catalog for Avon representatives and free samples.

A bit about me as your mentor/coach

I have been with Avon since 2014. Having received awards for online sales, sales increases, Spirit of Avon Award, President’s Club, Honor Society, Bronze Ambassador and Silver Ambassador. 

I have also been #1 in online sales as well as #1 in sales increase within my district multiple times. 

Also earned a trip for two to Jamaica in 2020.

Now I am a national leader with Avon! 

Avon is what I do and I love it, but it isn’t who I am. 

I am a wife of over 32 years. Mom of four beautiful girls. Three of those girls are married.  One is still at home and graduates in 2022. Grandmother to 12 grandbabies! Homeschooling mom for more than 25 years.  Thankfully this is my last year to homeschool.

What do you get after you sign up to sell Avon?

  • You will receive an e-mail from Avon with all the information you need to get started. 
  • I will be in touch with you via phone text to arrange a time to connect.  You will also receive an e-mail from me with some start up tips. 
  • You will get your own Avon Representative account and can get started checking out the back office where you place your orders and more.
  • Your Avon eStore will be available for you to share right away.  No need to wait for your kit.
  • After you are signed up you will receive a welcome e-mail from Avon and from me.
  • In about 3 – 5 business days you will receive free gift in the mail.  No shipping or tax!!
  • Online training in your back office through Avon University.
  • Mentoring from me unless you choose to go on your own.  Not everyone wants a mentor and that’s okay!

How Selling Avon Works with campaigns

Avon has 26 campaigns within a sales cycle which is every two weeks averaging out to be 2 catalogs per month. 

An Avon campaign comes out every two weeks; so every two weeks your customers will have a new campaign to view either online at your Avon eStore or with catalogs that you purchase for them to view.  

You could do what I do and put out a newsletter every two weeks using Mailchimp.  It is free up to 1,000 e-mail addresses.

Avon provides you with a campaign calendar so you know when a campaign starts and when it ends so you can plan ahead.

Is there a District Manager I keep in touch with?

Currently there are no district managers.  Avon has created a new mentor program that will allow reps to earn more money by mentoring and building their team without District Managers; which is exciting news for you should you decide to become an Avon representative.

Sales quotas while Selling Avon

No sales quotas while selling Avon?  Just is one of the great things that drew me to selling Avon. 

Unlike many other distribution market selling companies out there.  The only rule as far as sales requirements go is that you will need to submit at least one campaign within a 4 campaign cycle. So at least every 4th campaign.

However; if you plan to become a successful Avon Representative you will want to place an order every campaign. 

Avon Sales territory

Did you ever sell Avon back in the day when there were territories?  

Back in the 80’s I was selling Avon for a very short time (only because I ended up with a growing family) and there were territories then; which meant I could only sell within a certain area. 

Thankfully that is no longer the case.  Build your customer base as far as you can reach within the United States.

Costs associated with selling Avon

There are a few costs to be aware of when selling Avon, but it us up to you to decide how much you want to spend.

Catalogs – purchasing catalogs will help grow your business because it is your store inside of a catalog.  You can choose NOT to order catalogs.  Perhaps you would prefer to just order business cards and get people to your e-store that way.  My recommendation would be to order the catalogs.

Samples – these are optional, but highly recommended.

Tools – this would include bags for catalogs, bags for placing customer orders in for delivery, etc. 

You can order any of the above Avon sales tools from your back office. 

Other items you may want to purchase would be an i-Pad, laptop, printer, ring light for videos and advertising products like a car decal and apparel with your Avon logo. 

How Selling Avon Works  – Training

Avon provides training through the Avon U platform with everything you need to learn how to use your back office and share your online store as well as product knowledge to build your confidence when sharing the Avon products with customers.  

It is of course always up to you to do the training.  When I started; I was like a sponge.  I read and everything there was to read and learn about while taking notes.  Personally, I feel that knowledge is power in any business.  The more you know, the more successful you will become.

How Selling Avon works – earnings

New Avon Independent Representative earn 25% sales commission on all beauty including jewelry products. Home and fashion products will earn you 20%.

Orders need to total a minimum of $40 to earn a sales commission.

Campaigns are 2 weeks in length which gives you plenty of time to get orders of over $40 before placing your order. Online sales are included in your commission.

New Pathway to Premier incentive Representatives currently starting can earn up to $3,250 in the first 8 campaigns (16 weeks).  

There are 26 campaigns (Avon catalogs) within an Avon calendar year.

Plus, in addition to the 25% sales commission a $20 bonus is given for every $200 in award sales in a campaign as well as a 10% BONUS on every $1,000 in cumulative sales. Award sales are based on all your purchases as well as your customer purchases.

How Selling Avon Works – Getting paid

Sign up for Direct Deposit or the Avon prepaid card to get paid for your online sales. You will then get paid for your online sales two business days after your customer’s order ships. Money in your bank account you can spend right away! I

If you are not signed up for direct deposit, a commission credit will be applied to your Avon account two business days after your customer’s order ships.

Should you deliver orders, your commissions are based on the difference between the discounted amount you pay and the full-price your customer pays you.

Example – you sell a lipstick to a customer for $10, if your commission level is 40%, you pay Avon $6 plus tax and the rest is your profit.
